Boardwalk Kennel Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012 and will be hosting the Five Day Atlantic Ocean Classic Dog Show Cluster, Feb 1st thru Feb 5th, 2012 at the beautiful Wildwoods Convention Center.
These competitions are open to all breeds of dogs and feature a wide variety of categories including Best of Breed Competition, Obedience Competition, Rally Trials and Grooming Competition. In addition to all the competitions there will be fantastic pet related vendors for all your pet needs. Be sure to see the New AKC Breeds that will be entering the competitions and watch the fan favorite Police K-9 Demonstration performed by K-9 handler Michael Franks of the West Deptford Police Department.
On Wednesday, February 1st, 2012, The Union County Kennel Club begins the Five days of dog shows with their All Breed Conformation Dog Show and a Meet the Breed showcase. On Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 the Sand and Sea Kennel Club will hold their All Breed Conformation, Obedience and Rally dog show. The rally event is a lot of fun and great for kids as the dogs run at top speed around the obstacle courses. On Friday, February 4th it’s the All Breed Conformation, Obedience and Rally dog show, including the Best Veteran in Competition and Canine Good Citizen Clinic. Later that evening is the All Breed “B” Puppy Match Show. The puppies are always a fan favorite! On Saturday, February 4th come watch The Boardwalk Kennel Club celebrate their 50th Anniversary as they hold their All Breed Conformation dog show and Best Puppy in Show competition. There will also be the Groomer on the Boardwalk Competition & Police K- 9 Demonstration. On Sunday, The show ends with the All Breed Conformation Dog Show & Best Amateur Owner Handler Competition.
Throughout the five days there will be guided tours offered to educate the public about all aspects of the sport of dog shows. Since 1998, the Boardwalk Basketball Classic raises college scholarship money by holding is a 6-day basketball tournament for graduating seniors. Two high schools that host the tournament are Wildwood and Wildwood Catholic. This event is the largest coed high school basketball tournament in the country.
On Friday December 3rd, 2010, the annual official tree lighting for the City of North Wildwood will begin at 5.30 PM. In addition, festivities included will be singing of the national anthem, the pledge of allegiance, the MargaretMace School choir. Even Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on site to meet all young visitors so please do remember to bring your camera and take many pictures of this cherished event.
